In Reading 8: Acting As If You Are Hypnotized by Spanos, he believed that hypnosis was like a motivation boost to enact certain behaviors. Nothing more than a behavioral thing, not a trance or altered state. Hypnosis was used to treat mentally sick patients, and Franz Anton Mesmer evolved it from witchcraft into science. It has also aid in psychological disorders. Spanos thought the hypnosis was more of a social behavior and is leading.
