WHY I AM DOING AA2A RESIDENCY?
There is this need to focus on developing an idea at length without having to be restricted by; costing, quantity, availability and profit. I want to explore, improve, apply different artistic techniques which side steps conventional, short cut methods in line with this throw away culture we are living in. today. I want to sketch again, I want to drape, I want to hand sew and I want to paint, I want to sculpt. I want to explore both old and new techniques so that I can enhance and adapt my own creative skills to a higher level.
HOW I AM GOING TO DO IT?
1. Part of my process before I begin work is to read as much as possible about specific artistic concepts and go to art galleries, museums and creative workshops in order to improve my awareness about art and how it transcends into different genres such as film, theatre, architecture and music - all of which influences my work.
2.…show more content… I will begin my AA2A artist residency at Bedfordshire University doing visual research - gathering inspiration , knowledge and learning about art and design concepts in which will influence and help develop my ideas. Special emphasis will be placed on researching sculpture through reading, drawings, photography and visits to exhibitions.
3. From the sketches and photographs a painting will be produced - fusing acrylic paints and other materials ( mostly recyclable) to produce a 2D image of different shapes that can be use to make the head mannequins’.
