Theseus A Midsummer Night’s Dream is a play by William Shakespeare that deals with the notion of love versus law. Young lovers Hermia and Lysander are faced with the obstacle of being forbidden by Athens law to wed. Theseus, the Duke of Athens, plays a major role in the progression and outcome of Hermia’s and Lysander’s fate.
