Nicholas A. Roes Writes about a road to recovery in “A License to be Happy.” Along the article, Roes informs his clients about the 12 different ingredients that provide a happy life; those ingredients being optimism, gratitude, forgiveness and mutually satisfying relationships. Something Roes did not mention is the value of religion and how a strong relationship with God can answer most if not all of a struggling person’s problems. In paragraph one of the article, Roes claims that he has found a “learned phenomenon,” he states, “More research is supporting the idea that people can learn to be happy.” Conversely, his clients don’t need research to tell them how to be happy.
