On September 25, 2015, Pope Francis attended a 9/11 memorial in New York City during his visit to the United States. At the memorial fourteen years later, he gave a speech in which he expressed his grief over the 9/11 attacks. With leaders from various religious traditions joining him on this commemorative occasion, Pope Francis also emphasized the power of peace.
