Yanni was conceived Yiannis Chryssomalis on November 14, 1954 on the Greek island of Kalamata. He showed an ability for a music at a youthful age, playing piano at six years old, yet rather than enlist him in music school, his guardians urged their child to take after his own dream and take in the instrument at his own particular pace and in his own specific manner. In 1972, Yanni ventured out to Minnesota to go to school, keeping in mind he majored in brain research, he didn't leave music, playing in a nearby shake band and proceeding with his own investigation of piano and other console instruments.
