World War I started in 1915 when Serbian rebels assassinated the Duke Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary. So then Austria-Hungary had no choice but to attack Serbia. Because of all the treaties, the Russians, British, French, and Italians were brought into the war on Serbia's side, meanwhile Germany and Turkey were compelled to fight on Austria-Hungary's side.
