The experiment was primarily set up by filling seven plastic cups each with 25 mL of water and 25 mL of varying sucrose molarity solutions. The sucrose solutions ranged from 0.0 M (Water) to 0.6 M, where the 0.0 M solution was the control variable and the solutions between 0.1 M and 0.6 M were the experimental variables. A cork borer was used to obtain seven potato cylinders, each approximately 5 cm in length. The cylinders were lined up, cut in halves and then skin was removed off of the ends with a razor blade. Immediately after being cut, the cylinders were weighed by a balance in grams and recorded in Chart 1.
