Blood Meridian is the fifth novel written by Cormac McCarthy, who is an American writer. The novel takes place in the desert west of what actually is United States and narrates the story of a kid who runs away from home and is immersed in world of mindless violence. The aim of this essay is to explore the way in which the American West is deconstructed through violence, which is an innate feature of humans. First of all, the main theme of the book which is violence has to be mentioned. At the very beginning we are taught about this issue by the title: Blood Meridian. In the first page of the story this quote is found: “He can neither read nor write and in him broods already a taste for mindless violence.”(Blood Meridian, p.3). The quote is
