Nowadays, humans are destroying the environment unconsciously. This type of problem creates havoc in our world. For example; cutting trees and plants to increase the area of farming affect some species of animal and plant loss their habitat, using chemical fertilizers, herbicides and insecticides to increase agricultural production which make soil and water cause toxic and kill the animal. All of these aspects are going to be based on the ideas from “The New Atlantis” a short story by Ursula K. Le Guin. It is going to be about the carelessness of humans and the effect on the environment. On earth, one of the most important actions that humans are doing it unconsciously which can affect the environment is Deforestation. Because, it causes the greenhouse effect which changes the environment in a negative way. As you can infer from this passage “That is a factor. Due to the greenhouse effect of pollution, indeed Antarctica may become uninhabitable.” (Le Guin U.K., 2015, p.1). The effect of deforestation causes the increase of temperature on earth from the things that we do such as cutting a trees which causes increasing amounts of Carbon dioxide, but not only that, animals can also get affected. According to Paul (2002) stated that “In the past three centuries, the methane-producing cattle population has risen to 1.4 billion. About 30–50% of the planet’s land surface is exploited by humans. Tropical rainforests disappear at a fast pace, releasing carbon dioxide and strongly increasing species extinction. Dam building and river diversion have become commonplace. Energy use has grown 16-fold during the twentieth century, causing 160 million tons of atmospheric sulfur dioxide…show more content…
Because, humans activities has change the environment. As you can notice from this passage “This is interesting. I’ve been reading that new continent is rising from depth of the sea. They’re not sure yet. Most specialists think the Atlantic. But there’s evidence it may be happening in the pacific, too.” (Le Guin U.K., 2015, p.1). The effect of human carelessness cause a big change to the environment. It also cause a natural disaster more rapidly which can destroy the animal and plant ecosystem. And it also can make some organism species become extinct. Human keep developing them self without any concern about the environment. According to Peter, Harold, Jane, & Jerry (1997) mention that “Human alteration of Earth is substantial and growing. Between one-third and one-half of the land surface has been transformed by human action; the carbon dioxide concentration in the atmosphere has increased by nearly 30 percent since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution; more atmospheric nitrogen is fixed by humanity than by all natural terrestrial sources combined; more than half of all accessible surface fresh water is put to use by humanity; and about one-quarter of the bird species on Earth have been driven to extinction. By these and other standards, it is clear that we live on a human- dominated planet.” (p.494). Human carelessness have created a big
