My first quarter portfolio is about the PRLs I did for The Hobbit, the TBEAR from “Eleven” packet, the “Talking to the Text” from The Hobbit packet, and the social networking essay. The Hobbit, written by J.R.R Tolkien, was about Bilbo Baggins, a non-adventurous hobbit, going on an adventure with the dwarves in search for treasures stolen by a dragon named Smaug. For the TBEAR in “Eleven” packet, we analyzed what figurative speech is being used and how it affected the tone of the story. The “Talking to the Text” from The Hobbit packet for chapter 12 of the book showed us how the conversation between Bilbo and Smaug summarizes or ties back to the novel’s main events that already happened.
