Nagel believes it is difficult to explain mental states by the brain states we have at the moment because the way that experiences are stored inside your mind, they are inaccessible to anything outside of your mind for analyzation. The analogy with tasting the chocolate bar shows that there is no way to scientifically prove the physical presence of experience inside the brain.
