Susan Milligan states in an article for U.S. News & World Report that while there is an improvement within the national economy, incomes for households remain relatively the same. Both the poverty rate and median income of last year was consistent with 2013. These findings are according to statistics recently released by the government. Included in the findings were that 14.8 percent of the population lived in poverty last year which was about the same as the previous year. Milligan also explains that while income amounts have been stagnant, the uninsured rate has dropped in all age groups and races.
