A wise man once said,“You must do the thing you think you cannot do.” This was the one quote that dwelled on my mind when I crossed the finish line in Needville after the horrible turn of events at the Kepner race. It started like all other Thursdays, going to school and homework, however today was different. Today was the 3rd XC race of the short cross country season. As school went slowly, 6th period finally came and it was time to leave for the Kepner race. My friend, Blair, and I gathered our stuff, put on our uniforms, and headed to the stinky bus as we realized this race could set our future as XC runners. When we arrived to the Kepner race , we saw over 50 buses and it seemed like thousands of Junior high/middle…show more content… They were in such a rush to start the race that I didn’t even get to stretch or warm up. As we began to pass the halfway mark of the 2 mile course I knew I needed to step up my game and have a faster pace. After the realization from the other race I soon caught up to many of the girls and began to pass them. Until, one of the West Brazos girls began to cut me off. There was no way I was going to let that girl beat me and cut me off. So I got right in front of her and encouraged her to finish the race. As the last and final curve was approaching quicker than a ticking time bomb I, Bree, started to run the race of a lifetime. With a little tank of energy left I ran my heart out and crossed the finish line in 6th place. I was the first Brazoswood runner to finish the race and get in the top 7. I had also beaten my personal best and nobody had stolen my metal this time. As many people were cheering and hollering after I crossed the finish line, I felt very proud of myself and realized, “Always try to push yourself no matter how hard it
