As much money that flows through sports, players deserve to get part of it since they are the ones that are playing for the school. College football programs rack up billions of dollars each year through marketing, broadcast contracts, ticket sales and merchandising. College football players should be paid in college so when they go to the pro’s they would know how to handle money. College football players should be paid for playing for their school because it could be a way for players to stay in school, playing football is like a job, and players sustain injuries that could be life threatening. Football is the number one scholarship sport at the college level with more full-ride scholarships than any other sport. Instead of the people who are in charge of the organization making all the money, they should have some of their salaries cut in order to give the student athletes a specific amount of money for each semester they participate in a sport. Paying players to play in college, might actually keep a few more of them in school. If college football players received decent middle class wages, many players would be able to send some money home, which would in turn encourage many parents to convince their sons that they should stay in school. So many parents would sacrifice for a few more years in order for their son to improve his draft stock or earn a degree.Football is more of a job than a fun activity. Football can be treated as a part-time job. College football is a business where players routinely spend extra time in film sessions, working out in their free time and vigorously preparing for the next opponent which is a must.
