Socially Responsible Marketing Marketing is a strategy that identifies and meets the needs of the consumers both humanly and socially. Today’s consumers expect higher quality products and they desire to positively impact the world all at the same time. According to Kotler & Keller (2012) they stated that, “ several firms have taken a strategic role in being active with socially responsible marketing through carefully scrutinizing what they believe in and ways they should treat their customers, employees, competitors, community, and the environment” (p. 629). For example, they have 350 employees in three locations to help each month by checking recycling bins and waste energy bins to ensure all waste is sorted and no piece goes into the garbage (Burt's Bees: Home Page, 2015). Likewise, Burt’s Bees stated, “We’re basically a bunch of hands-on, tree-hugging, greased elbow do-gooders. It's kind of what makes our company special. We think the bees would agree” (Burt's Bees: Home Page, 2015). Whole Foods Market Incorporated Whole Foods is supermarket chain, they are the leader in retailing and specialize natural and organic foods. Their motto, to have “Whole Foods, Whole People, Whole Planet” and they do this by supporting being healthy keeping the plant green (Whole Foods Incoproated, Home Page, 2015). Whole Foods sells products and foods that are locally grown, animal welfare, seafood sustainability, whole body standard, eco-scale, and enhanced standard for fresh produced and floral (SEC, 2013). They promote social responsibility by encouraging consumers to use toxic free products, and educating their customers about alternatives ways that have a positive impact regarding air, and water. They also encourage the purchase of bulk food and products to help reduced or reusable packaging, as well as encourage shoppers to eliminate waste by trying their "nickel per bag" rebate program (Whole Foods Incorporated: Home Page, 2015).
