Born in 1920, Sister Rose Thering was a courageous and strong-minded Roman Catholic nun who battled against the horrors of prejudice and bigotry that have unceasingly plagued this world. Throughout her lifetime, Sister Rose was exposed to anti-Semitic prejudice. Nonetheless, she did not instantaneously accept the notion that those of the Jewish faith murdered the Messiah. Contrarily, Sister Rose educated herself about the roots of anti-Semitism, becoming familiar with the Jewish culture and developing a love for Jews. Thering became an activist against anti-Jewish sentiments, exposing the faults of the Catholic Church. Accordingly, Sister Rose Thering’s campaign against prejudice and bigotry influenced me to minimize the injustices that I am exposed to.
