Abstract—This report is a brief discussion about two famous mathematicians, Leonhard Euler and Daniel Bernoulli. Both mathematicians studied in Basel and St Petersburg for some time together, and collaborated on a few theories. Bernoulli went on to study fluid dynamics, producing what is now known as the ‘Bernoulli principle’, which is referenced many times in physics. Leonhard Euler had an almost countless amount of discoveries, one dealing with infinite series, the ‘Basel Problem’. This problem was to find the exact sum of a specific infinite series, which was unsolvable by other mathematicians until Euler solved it.

Introduction
During the 1700’s mathematics was booming. Calculus was beginning to become formalized, as well as other fields of mathematics such as analysis. During this time, there were many famous mathematicians, who are often taught to us during schooling, such as Leonhard Euler, Daniel Bernoulli, Jean Baptiste Joseph Fourier,…show more content… Euler then went on to solve the infinite sums in the form ∑_(n=1)^∞▒1/n^2k , where k=1,2,3,… using the same method.
Conclusion
Daniel Bernoulli and Leonhard Euler were both prominent mathematicians, who were able to advance mathematics greatly. Daniel Bernoulli was able to study mathematics, although his father pushed him to study other fields, and created a lot of tension when he and his father tied for a mathematics award. Nevertheless, Bernoulli formulated various equations, helping out fluid dynamics, and having many applications in even modern times.
Leonhard Euler was one of the most prominent mathematicians, having many formulas and ideas named after him, in various fields. Even with his crippling medical conditions, he was able to publish many of his works. Mathematics would definitely be far behind if Euler did not study
