Who should we celebrate, should it be Zheng He or Christopher Columbus? Zheng He was a great Chinese explorer and had a huge fleet compared to Columbus but Zheng He didn’t do any major discoveries to humanity like Columbus. Columbus was an Italian explorer who was obsessed with finding Asia by crossing the Atlantic Ocean. He had a great determination and was a sailor with an incredible set of skills.
Just the fact that Columbus had the courage to even start offering the idea of sailing uncharted sea was extremely courageous. In the time that Columbus was alive you had to be strong and courageous to bring new ideas. For Columbus to have such a great determination to sailing uncharted sea was a courageous act because he wanted to sail knowing he could die. Columbus thought that if he crossed the Atlantic ocean he would hit the other side of Asia. He expected to hit India but instead he hit the Bahamas islands first. Columbus completed 4 trips to the America still thinking he was in Asia. The amount of knowledge they had about these oceans at that time was minimum.
