The entire ordeal of Santiago turning himself into the wind seems to be his what his personal journey is. Like the alchemist, who can already already turn into the wind and seems to be truly happy, Santiago is searching for inner peace and the ability to completely let go of personal possessions. The alchemist makes Santiago give up all of his possessions, say that all of his money that he’s saved up throughout his life, is not enough to save him. “If I’m not able to turn myself into the wind, we’re going to die…” This quote seems to be a metaphor comparing his soul being trapped in his body (a possession) to his struggle of giving up possessions throughout the entire book.
