I have six hats hanging in my room. In my home town of Oneonta, New York there is an annual 10 Kilometer race on the first Sunday of October, the Pit Run is in honor of a state trooper who lost his life off duty attempting to stop a robbery of a local super market. Ricky Perisan is now the symbol of a perfect citizen in our town, not only for his heroism but for his integrity all the way leading to this incident. When I was five years old my uncle took my sisters and I to various points along the race to watch my parents run.
