Rapunzel When Dawn with her rose-red fingers shone once more, Rapunzel, the golden headed girl, quickly arose and proceeded to her daily tasks. At the age of twelve, a wicked witch locked her away in a lofty tower, in the middle of a massive forest, with neither stairs nor any doors, only a small window atop the tower. Rapunzel longed for liberation, as a bird in a cage longs for freedom from its treacherous cage, and when released, was overjoyed and immediately escaped. The castle having no stairs or ladder, was like a dungeon soaring in the sky. Each time the old witch desired to get in the tower, she called out, “Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let your golden locks down the tower.” As soon as Rapunzel heard the witch’s raspy voice, she loosed her hair, letting it fall down the tower, like string unraveling…show more content…
After numerous years in isolation, a prince was riding through the forest, passing by the tower, heard someone sweetly singing. Not able to enter the tower, the prince came every night for many months to listen to the sweet singing of this mysterious person. Lurking behind a tree, he saw the old witch call up to Rapunzel saying, “Rapunzel, let down your golden hair.” After seeing the witch climb into the fort by way of hair, the prince stood at the foot of the tower the following day thus spoke, “Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your golden curls.” Her eyes flashing bright at the sight of another human, was frightened of him.
