RSOI is a process by which combat is generated and the final phase of a deployment process. RSOI is strictly not a logistic matter; this process generates critical operational challenges that rely on a logistical infrastructure for successful execution. During deployment, the ability to execute any mission depends on the speed with which combat power can be assembled at required locations. The segments must be efficiently received (reception), rapidly formed into units (staging), expeditiously moved to tactical assembly areas (onward) and seamlessly integrated into mission operations (integration) (O103DL_RA_RSOI, slides 1-6).
• Integration is the synchronized transfer of authority over units and forces to a designated component or functional…show more content… Integration is the final step in the RSOI process. Integration is the synchronized transfer of mission-ready units into the combatant commander’s force. Integration is complete when the receiving commander establishes positive command and control over the arriving units, usually in the tactical assembly area.
Integration planning and coordination must occur early in the force projection process to facilitate execution. The integration challenge is to seamlessly integrate cohesive, mission-capable units into the gaining command. Plans must be open and flexible enough to adapt to reality on the ground. Technical problems, natural conditions, land space conditions, land space constraints, and enemy action all conspire to alter the commander’s initial plan.
There are two prerequisites for unit integration (O103DL_RA_RSOI, slide 38):
• The unit must become operational and mission-ready. It must be able to move, fight, and communicate. Internal command and control must be established and the unit must meet the readiness standard formulated by the tactical commander.
• The unit must be absorbed into the gaining command and be able to communicate and receive command and control from its higher
