The duty of an attorney is to provide zealous representation, which requires each and every attorney to do everything legally and ethically possible to gain an acquittal for a defendant. Yes my duty in taking on a case such as this would mean trying to change the present state of the law. I would have to do everything possible within the legal bounds to pursue my client’s interest. Even if that means arguing that a law is a violation of my client’s constitutional rights. The law is forever evolving and it is apart of an attorney’s job to expand upon what is written or have it rewritten in order to protect your client’s rights.
