New Mexico is a beautifully unique area. The state’s nickname is “the Land of Enchantment” because if it is truly explored beyond what can visually be seen, New Mexico can represent a sort of fairytale, filled with a chance at new and exciting opportunities to explore and learn more about the land, animals, vegetation, history, and culture. What is it that makes New Mexico so enchanting? What makes the state a place that attracts people from near and far? Is it the beauty of the land or is it more than that? Do people set out to explore New Mexico in hopes of new opportunity? Do they take the chance to learn what has made New Mexico the state it is today? What makes the state special? I have traveled all over the world, to different states and different countries. While all of my travels have been worthwhile, I had never visited an area quite like New Mexico. One word I would use to describe the state is “magical”. New Mexico is a beautiful and magical place. While visiting the area, I was impressed with how much there was to learn about the area. The project photo I chose is one that I took myself, when I was at Inn of the Mountain Gods in Ruidoso, New Mexico. I remember being so proud of the way that my photo came out, as I am not the best photographer. When I shared the photo with friends, I told them that I was in awe of the beauty that God had created in New Mexico. I feel like that picture shows the magnificent land that is New Mexico. Since biomes are dependent on climate, flora, and fauna, each biome is unique. Even though New Mexico is mostly dry, there are some places throughout the state that receive more rainfall and precipitation, and others that are cold and experience snow in the winter months. Each biome experiences different temperatures and amounts of precipitation. There are different types of flora and fauna in different parts of New Mexico, depending on the climate in the area. Each biome is made up of different landforms that have been weathered or eroded to fit into that particular biome. These landforms serve as shelter and homes for the flora and fauna that live in the biome in that part of New Mexico. The desert biome, which covers most of the high plateau area of New Mexico, receives little amounts of rainfall, experiences hot summers, and cold winters. The freshwater biome in New Mexico is found in mountain lakes, in the southernmost part of the Rocky Mountains. Much of the river water comes from melted snow. The forest biome, which is filled with New Mexico’s mountains, has warm summers and cold winters with quite a bit of snowfall. The grassland biome, which covers the Great Plains in New Mexico, has very little rainfall, warmer summers and colder
