Michael Jeffrey Jordan was born February 17, 1963 in Brooklyn, NY. He grew up with his four siblings. He has two brothers, James Jr. and Larry and two sisters, Deloris and Roslyn. As a rookie with the Bulls, he immediately proved himself to the other players, averaging 28.2 points per game. There were even a few games that he scored 40+, and one with 69! Jordan also played in the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympics and brought the USA a Gold medal. He also helped America bring home the gold in the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. Later in the 1980’s the Bulls were becoming a strong force to mess with. Jordan became an even more preeminent player and an instrumental part of the Bulls’ success. Jordan’s seemingly perfect life came up to a huge obstacle. Two teenagers mugged and shot his dad. He did an astonishing act that left many fans wondering. He decided to retire and pursue his love of baseball, and played for a minor league team, the Birmingham Barons, as an outfielder for a year. In March 1995, however, Jordan returned to the basketball court. He rejoined the Chicago Bulls and eventually helped them win the championship against the Seattle Sonics in the 1995-96 season. That same year, Jordan made a big splash in another arena—film—as the star of Space Jam (1996). The film mixed live action and animation and paired Jordan with cartoon legends Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck on screen. The next season Michael came back stronger than ever with an average of 30.4 points per game! The Bulls played 82 games in the season and won 72 and a win against the Utah Jazz for the Championship.
