George Parks once said “A band is not proud because it performs well; It performs well because it is proud.” There are two types of band, Marching band & Concert band. During Concert & Marching Band students realise there’s more information than just playing, there is the equipment, the performances, the whole season, & the preparation. One of the best part about marching band is the performances! The performances are a big part of concert band & marching band. In concert band, students don’t do many of performances. The only performances students do is the Christmas concert, Spring concert, Hershey, and sometimes end of the school concert. In marching band performances students act professional, It’s all up to the students to have their drills right and music right. In concert band, however the band director is the one to rely on. Marching band competitions is a place where we score better at our show. Competitions & football games lead to the biggest competition that high school/middle school can go to, IUP. Concert band has more practice time. For marching band students have practice every week, Tuesday’s & Thursday’s are your practice for that week. Sometimes when there's a competition that Saturday, the marching band meets up 2 hours or more earlier before the competition starts and they practice. They never waste the time they have.
