Lost and Arrested Development are two shows that use narrative complexity and innovation. Narrative complexity is a concept where the book or TV show is sort of scrambled up. The story line may be mixed up, however, if you pay attention the confusing story line will eventually make sense. In Lost, the story does not start in chronological order. It starts after the plane crash, rather than when the characters are on the plane. Later on in the season we begin to learn about each how they got onto the island, their lives after the crash, and their lives before the crash. As watchers and readers, we learn some inside jokes that people who start watching it in the middle of the season would not understand. This way of creating a story line is
