In the Chicago, in the 1950’s the Youngers an African American family, many difficulties which caused conflict within the family. Walter states, “That’s what you mad about, ain’t it? The things I want to talk about with my friends just couldn’t be important in your mind, could they?”. Throughout the play “A Raisin in the Sun”, Lorraine Hansberry uses conflict to convey the idea that families go through many difficulties over money. The author shows conflict between Ruth and Walter because he feels that she never listens to him. On page 34 Walter states, “DAMN MY EGGS- DAMN ALL THE EGGS THAT EVER WAS!”.
