1. A symphony is defined as a musical genre that became wildly popular in Classical instrumental music, and it was characterized by its multi-movement structure. In fact, these movements were ornamented and enhanced by countless composers with their innovations. Also important was the fact that it was designed to be able to demonstrate the full capabilities that an orchestra had. As central as it was, the symphony is actually a development of a previous genre, the Italian opera overture.
