John Grisham, an American author and retired attorney, has been enthralling readers with his legal thrillers since 1989. John Grisham worked many jobs before finding his calling in the legal profession and writing. John Grisham draws much of the inspiration for his novels from his own courtroom experiences. With over 300 million books in print worldwide, which have been translated into 40 languages, Grisham’s prolific literary career is inspiring to many of today's young people. Nine of Grisham’s novels have been turned into films, allowing not only readers, but also movie goers to enjoy his fantastic storytelling ability. Grisham’s writing and personal experiences combine to make him a very interesting individual. John Grisham entered the world on February 8, 1955, in Jonesboro, Arkansas. "When he was younger, John dreamed of being a professional baseball player.” (JGrisham 1) After working with his father in construction during his youth, Grisham decided to get a desk job. John Grisham's first job outside of construction was working at Sears in the men’s underwear department. He soon realized he did not enjoy selling underwear to men, which prompted him to repeatedly attempt to have his employment terminated.…show more content…
I believe that he is a very inspirational writer; so much, so that his novels have inspired me to seek a career in the legal profession. Due to their intriguing nature and the exemplary storytelling, John Grisham's books are hard to put down. The best part of his novels, is the fact that he is not afraid to tackle big social and political issues like the dangers of cigarettes and political corruption. He also has a very unique style of writing. His vivid descriptions really suck you into a story and make you feel as if you are there. Though we may have different views on some things, I find John Grisham to be an outstanding author and
