Ind Aff, also known as Out of Love in Sarajevo, is a story that has the theme of loss. We find loss in all aspects of this story. We start with the history of loss, the story of how World War I started in this town of Sarajevo. This event includes the event of many lives lost. There is loss in what the expectations of the relationship is with the two characters. They lose the entertainment on their trip because of the rain. There is the loss of idealism when the main character, the narrator, discovers what she thought was love is not. These losses are all seen through the symbolism of rain.
