When I went on my first ASE over 2 years ago, it was a life changing experience for me. Not only has ASE impacted my values, academics, and professional goals, it has become an important part of who I am. Since that first ASE, I have been on 3 others and will lead 2 more this year- one over fall break and the other, the Costa Rica Program over spring break. This year, I decided to challenge myself and lead an international program. In addition to having more participants than I am used to, I also have to coordinate classes for a credit-earning course. Also, I will be working around environmental issues, something I have no prior experience in. However, I know the effects that the ASE program has, and I want to make the experience positive for others in hopes that they will be impacted as much as I have. After going abroad for the first time this past summer I recognize the importance of experiencing different cultures and ways of life. I believe that having a global understanding and awareness of issues allows us to more affectively expand our minds. Through this experience, I hope to gain more knowledge about sustainability and environmental preservation. I also hope…show more content… I greatly appreciate the financial support, but also the advice, resources, workshops, everything that shows how much you care. My college experience definitely would not have been the same if I were not a part of the program, and I can't thank you enough. Which is why I am grateful even if I don't receive this scholarship. I know that I am already going on the iASE program. I will receive $1,100 ($1,000 after taxes) at the end of spring break which I will use toward the cost. Everything must be paid up front, and I have been saving in order to make those payments. I am applying for this scholarship for $600 for the remaining cost not covered by the stipend. Any help is greatly appreciated, as this ASE is really important to
