In Egypt, the Nile River was a huge factor to Egyptian survival. Every spring, the Nile would flood making the land around them fertile. Because of this, farming was possible. In the Egyptian religion they worshiped the God Hapi as the giver of food. They also built huge pyramids which would never have lasted up until today with non solid grounds, so in order to build a civilization you have to have sturdy land to live on. The Egyptians were also well protected by surrounding deserts and rivers. If ever under attack, they'd have an easy escape. The Hittite civilization of Asia (Middle East) relied very much on iron ore and used iron tools and weapons to gain power. They would trade with neighboring civilizations and use tools for farming
