Symbol: The symbol of perpetual renovation. Her symbols were the owl
(a bird often called “wise”) and war armor, including the aegis (breastplate) of Zeus.
Family: Daughter of Zeus and Metis
Myth: “Arachne” Arachne thought her weaving was the best so she challenged Athene to a weaving contest to prove she was the best weaver. When Arachne glanced over at Athene’s loom she noticed “the goddess working swiftly, calmly, and always a little faster than herself.” Arachne became so angry she started to weave all the evils the gods have done. When Athene “saw this insult glowing in bright colors on
