Purpose: The purpose of this experiment is to find out what kind of gases we can produce using different reactions such as manganese dioxide mixed with hydrogen peroxide, hydrochloric acid mixed with sodium hydrogen carbonate, and manganese ribbon mixed with hydrochloric acid. In this experiment we used oxygen, hydrogen, and carbon dioxide etcetera. Oxygen is fundamental in burning objects. 20% of our air has oxygen in it thus why we have fire. When hydrogen is inflamed the air the oxygen and hydrogen mix to make H20. This fast reaction is followed by a pop noise. Hypothesis: Our hypothesis for the manganese dioxide mixed with hydrogen peroxide experiment, for both the glowing and burning splint is that it will catch back on fire.…show more content…
What happened was there was sparks that then was ignited by the hydrogen and exploded. b) In surgery the surgeons wear coverings over their feet because it can cause static electricity which can then cause the oxygen cylinders inside the operating room to explode. This is because static electricity can cause sparks or sometimes even fires, and oxygen allows for something to be burnt. j) Three natural producers of carbon dioxide are: • Ocean / atmosphere • Plant and animals respiration • Soil respiration or decomposition Some simple fire extinguishers could be blowing it out (depending on the size of the fire), pouring water on it, or put soil on it. These three options for a fire extinguisher. All options are simple. All of these would work for example firemen use water to tame fires, we blow out our birthday candles to get rid of the flame, and the soil does not spread fire. It is practical, most people have these things handy. This is why any of these three options would work as a simple fire
