As a union organizer for the GMFC Custom Conveyor Division, my first priority will be developing a plan for each obstacle that the union organizers might face. The plan will help set clear approach for each obstacle, steps to achieve union organization, and how to support newly organized union members. To gain members and support of the employees, I would focus on improving the needs and desire of both satisfied and dissatisfied workers. My strategic plan for organizing this plant would begin with the information that Dave Neumeier provided, the information included the difference in wages between CCD and GMFC’s main central City location and plant preppers dissatisfaction. We know that there is some discontent in the organization so we will start there to gain support.Our campaign will begin organizing this particular shop effectiveness, we know that wages were one of the top priorities and concerns of Dave Neumeier, so concentrating to gain a wage premium for this shop is a top priority. Doing this allows our organization to gain strong interest in organizing workers in the main branch General Material Fabrication Corporation where non-union markets competition might have reduced the union monopoly power. The first step in the organization framework would the authorization campaign which tries to enroll employees in the union in the unit to seek representation. This step my colleagues and I would contact employees individually to persuade them to sign an authorization card to allow their union agent to represent their needs in negotiation wage, hours, and term and conditions of employment.
