Relating to Full Bone Moon by Cameron Fuller was easy, considering my heart has been in West Virginia for 17 years and counting. Not only does it take place in Morgantown, WV but in narrows down to West Virginia University when two college girls come up missing and eventually wind up dead. It’s normal for students to hitchhike home or to even catch rides, especially if you’re a student on a budget.
Even though this book falls in the fiction genre, it is inspired from the murder of two WVU freshmen, Mared Malarik and Karen Ferrell. They were found dead in the woods of Morgantown in 1970.
I suppose since Fuller grew up in Morgantown he couldn’t resist writing about the two gruesome murders of the college girls at WVU. This book is none-the-less intriguing but also creepy, and I may add that it’s a little on Satanic side of things.…show more content… When he was assigned the story of the mutilated college girls found in the woods of Morgantown, he was very curious and ready to dig deep into the heart of the crime. The girls’ heads were missing, marks and cuts found on each body, seemed to be no pointing fingers as to who it was.
Chase’s drinking buddy Shango adds humor throughout the book. Because of him we hear “behind the scenes” details on his case and his drunken thoughts seem to add to it.
Alexandra Heyden, a psychiatrist in the book, appears to live a normal life outside of her office. When she’s talking with her patients, it seems as I you’re thrown into the chair in front of her and she’s digging into your past, pulling out memories that haunt you. Although she seems to live a normal life she’s haunted by a phone call that tells her, “it happening again.”
