How successful were the Liberal Social reforms between 1906-1911?
During the Liberal party Parliament from 1906-1911, a number of reforms were brought into action to aid the general public and marked a change in previous governmental policy that allowed the government to intervene in people's lives if it benefits them rather than sitting back and not intervening ( Laissez-faire).
The main intention of the Liberals was to create a ‘lifebelt’ which allowed people to ‘stay afloat’ in extreme cases of poverty. New liberalism was aimed at three groups of people- the elderly, the workers and the young. Before the liberal government, the majority of pensioners were living in poverty as they were not able to work and consequently had to rely on charities
