A comparison of characters in the stories “The Rocking-Horse Winner and “The Destructors”
In each of these stories, “The Rocking-Horse Winner” by D.H. Lawrence as well as the “The Destructors” which is by Graham Greene there are some similarities as well as some differences. As one reads through these stories they see the importance and weight that is placed on values, class as well as money. “The Rocking-Horse Winner” is a story that is situation in a suburban area of Baltimore, Maryland where the population consists of upper class. On the other hand the story “The Destructors” takes place in the setting of Great Britain after the occurrence of World War I. The population that once was upper class now find themselves living as middle class due to the bombings from the war.
Each of these stories provides characters that have similarities and differences as well. One thing that each of these stories has in common is that the protagonist are young boys. In the story “The Destructors” is an older boy named “T” Trevor, that has decided that life does not always give you lemons and that you must find other ways to deal with problems sometimes.
