When I was younger I was never like the rest of my friends whose dads made them play the "great sport of football". All of them were into trying to annihilate each other and ridicule each other's ability to tackle. While they were picking each other apart on the football field, I was on the soccer field scoring goals and telling everyone else good job. I never felt the need to diminish someone's attitude based on their ability because when I was younger, one would not consider me to be an elite athlete. I slowly began playing in a much older league and realized, I was not as good. Once a few games went by with me not playing due to my parents being afraid of me being hurt, I lost the love for the game of soccer. Throughout sixth grade I only played basketball and baseball. Normally the football players were only affiliated with each other and since I played before I was inviting to a few get together. One of the football players was trying to be the kicker and actually had a field goal post placed in his backyard. As we all messed around on it I realized that I had a niche for kicking. My friends kept having me scoot back further and further until one friend decided to measure my last kick. As he took his steps I hear him at the end yell, “Forty Five!” I had just made a forty-five yard field goal. I proceeded to tell my dad on what I had accomplished, but he believed that I was extending the truth by about twenty yards. So he made a deal; if I could prove to him that I could make a forty-five yard field goal then he would give me one-hundred dollars. As we kept pushing off the date, the end of my freshman year was coming upon us, and it was a perfect sunny day. I reminded my dad of the deal we made and we went to the football
