The Marine Mammal Center is a non profit organization in the area of San Francisco, that works to expand knowledge of marine mammals, their health and environment as well as their global conservation of marine mammals. The Marine Mammal Center focuses on rescuing and rehabilitating marine mammals that are in need of medical health. Since 1975, The Marine Mammal Center has focused mostly on rescuing elephant seals, harbor seals, and California sea lions, rescuing more than 20,000 marine mammals since their establishment. They are the only organization that is authorized by the National Marine Mammal Fisheries Service to rescue and provide medical help to injured marine mammals along 600 miles of the California coast.
