Lab 2: Determining Power: Wingate Test
Tuesday, September 29, 2015
Introduction:
Anaerobic means existing without oxygen. Anaerobic power is the maximal rate of work completed without any aerobic (oxygen present) influence. In this lab, we examined the amount fuel used for a short-term, high intensity activity. The systems being examined were the anaerobic systems consisting of ATP-PC, glycolysis, and phosphagen systems. The purpose of this lab was to measure the peak anaerobic power, mean anaerobic power, and the fatigue index of each subject as they did a short, intense exercise on the ergometer cycle. I hypothesize that as time increases, the amount of revolutions will decrease and so will the anaerobic power. I also predict that male’s…show more content… Initials gender PkAnPwr (kpm/min) MnANPwr Fatigue Index Relative (w/kg) Relative Percentile

Figure 1: Shows the average peak anaerobic power in gender comparison. The male average was 4,844 kp/min and the female average was 3,445 kp/min.
Figure 2: Shows the average relative mean anaerobic power in gender comparison. The male average was 6.91 w/kg and the female average was 5.7 w/kg.
