Sick Leave
Burgos Family Medicine provides paid sick leave to full and part-time employees. Sick leave is intended to provide continuity of income to an employee in the event of health related issues that prevent the employee from working their regularly paid hours. It can be used for any of the following reasons:
temporary illness or disability
pregnancy or childbirth
medical and/or dental appointments
to care for an immediate family member who may be experiencing a temporary illness or disability
to provide assistance for an immediate family member who may require it during a medical or dental appointment
Sick leave starts accumulating with the first day of employment, at the rate of one day per month. It can be used right after it is earned with a maximum of sixty days allowed to be accumulated.
Our practice reserves the right to require proof of illness before any sick leave is granted, and will require a medical note for leave of more than three days in duration. Anticipated absences should be reported to a supervisor by the start of the work week if not earlier. In the case that an employee is unable to report to work, they must notify an immediate supervisor as soon as possible but no later than one hour before their scheduled start time. Whenever an employee takes sick time, they need to notify a supervisor of the anticipated date of return to
