Activism in any form begins because change is desired; it is not often that a daily activity will lead to an act of activism that will affect a large group of people. In the summer of 2010 this is precisely what happened to Brandon Stanton.
Stanton is the founder of Humans of New York (HONY), a photo blog that began with the idea of cataloging those who live in New York City, often posting several pictures a day with little extracts of conversations he has with each person and sometimes doing a series on a single person. Prior to starting this project he had very little experience with photography (Stanton).
