"Mockingjay," by Suzanne Collins is an a very unique book that really allows the reader to feel fear and exhilaration. The Hunger Games is a series of books about17 year old Katniss Everdeen who has now experienced entering the Game arena twice so far. She is required by her district to go against boys and girls from the ages 12 to 18 from other district in a game of survival. They are forced to kill for the win and victory of their district. Katniss comes from impoverished District 12, a very poor and desperate district. While reading the book, we realise that Katniss has become the Capitols worst enemy. Katniss goes through multiple heartbreaking moments as she makes her way around the ashes of her district and her destroyed home. Many memories…show more content… Throughout the book, we realize that Katniss struggles with her identity. "My name is Katniss Everdeen. I'm seventeen years old. My home is District 12. I was in the Hunger Games. I escaped. The Capitol hates me." All the victors have changed. We see that Katniss is most relaxed when she is able to grab pieces of her identity. For example, when her and Gale got permission to view district 14, she gets the feeling of relief. "We could be ourselves again." We also realize that Katniss is a very loyal and loves her family very much. She doesn't fully know who she is, but she does know what her priorities are and keeps them straight. She focuses on keeping her loved ons alive, such as Prim, Gale, her mother, and Peeta. Katniss would die in order to protect the ones she loves. I really admire Katniss's loyalty and strong connection towards her family and the confidence Katniss she has taking this huge role. She is the voice of freedom that can lead the rebellion. Throughout the book, we realise that Katniss has many motivations towards the actions she takes throughout the story. Katniss wants nothing more than to protect her family and friends. They are her motivation and reason to her
