Aiva Ginete Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk by Ben Fountain Published in 2012 by HarperCollins Publishers In Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk we join Billy Lynn and Bravo Squad on their post-war journey across the country. Bravo squad, a rag-tag group of 10 soldiers, were made famous for their battle on the Al-Ansakar Canal. After the attacks on 9-11, everyone is talking of the war in Iraq. The heroic acts come just in time to restore patriot’s faith in the troops overseas. After losing one of their soldiers and nearly losing another Bravo is recognized for their heroic acts and a movie deal is in order. Together we read as Bravo battles with war, death, sacrifice, love, family and PTSD. Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk is not as self explanatory as one would think. Watching a football game, in real life or through a screen, it always seems to go by so fast. The dynamics of halftime shows are so fast-pace and quick. Kathryn Lynn is Billy’s sister and the reason Billy’s in the army.Pre-accident she was the trophy daughter of the family, a scholar who was engaged and had a part time job. After getting into a nearly fatal accident she was left in the hospital with her whole world turned upside down. She nearly died, she should have died in that accident, it’s a miracle that she didn’t. If it wasn’t bad enough her fiance broke off the engagement. Billy did what any brother would think about doing, he took a crowbar to the ex’s car and chased his sister’s ex with said crowbar. After the crowbar incidents Billy nearly went to jail, but his lawyer worked on a deal for Billy to join the Army
