Throughout the entire movie it is apparent that Will Hunting has a very close group of friends, these friends make Will feel that he belongs to something. The group of friends have extremely strong loyalty to one another. For example, when Will started the fight with the guy at the basketball courts the entire group of friends joined in, even though they had no reason to take part in the fight besides to protect Will.
