In his article “Why I Provide Abortions” Parker, Willie a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist is also the chairman-elect of the Board of Physician for Reproductive Health. Like many others originally opposed the idea of abortions, to his belief abortion was morally wrong. Furthermore, he proves the point that professional care is essential and should be accessible. Doctors are naturally responsible for helping patients of all types and providing services as needed. Parker also emphasises this with a opening sentence that reads; “ IN public health, you go where the crisis is. If there is an outbreak and you have the ability to relieve suffering, you rush to the site of the need.” Later, concludes his opinion by stating “We who provide abortions do so because our patients need us, and that’s what we are supposed to do: respond to our patients’ needs. It is the deepest level of love that you can have for another person, that you can have compassion for their suffering and you can act to relieve it. That, simply put, is why I provide abortion care.
This article would be helpful in providing an example to support the argument that abortion should not be banned because that could put the health of women at risk. Women should be able to get help from professionals without any rejection or judgement. This brings forth my belief that making abortions illegal will not stop abortions from happening, this goes to show that those who want it banned will indeed not be successful in their mission because their main purpose is to “save the unborn child”. The also say that patients are to suffer from psychological stress and trauma after abortion. Not to mention, that the victim might be delayed getting medical treatment due to many causes which would lead them into pregnancy and at that time abortion is the only hope. It is true that abortion is likely to cause emotional stress, but in cases of rape being forced to give birth is highly stressful and
