OHSEPR has established capabilities that promote the recovery of people served by human service systems following a disaster. Among the capabilities is the ACF Immediate Disaster Case Management (IDCM) program. The IDCM program facilitates a partnership between a case manager and a disaster survivor. This partnership provides clients a single point of contact to get access to a broad range of resources. The case manager evaluates the client’s ‘disaster caused needs’ and develops a recovery plan. The plan outlines the steps necessary to help the client recover. IDCM services help clients overcome barriers to recovery caused the disaster’s impact on the community and its service systems.
